Day 1: Edworthy Park
Welcome to Camp Amicus! We are so excited to have everyone joining us for this week at Outdoor Adventure Camp! Today, we began with some expectations about the week and a couple important ground rules so we can have the best time at Camp. One of those important rules, especially at OAC, are the 3 R’s: respect yourself, respect others, and respect the environment!
After announcements, we played Camp Wide Game! We had to stay inside today for it because of the chilly weather outside. We played so many fun tag games, including Cat & Mouse Tag! After Camp Wide, we headed back to the library to do our Group Contract. This is a time for all the Campers to share what they want to get out of Camp and establish their own personal boundaries.
Today, we went on a short field trip to Edworthy Park to hike the Douglas Fir Trail and learn about Leave no Trace. We had lots of fun learning about the 10 essentials and what leaving no trace really is. Afterwards, we got to hike a little hidden trail to a sweet viewpoint where we stuck around for a bit to have a snack!
When we got back to Foothills we did Steps in the Right Direction. Steps is a time where Campers can give a paw print sticker to their friends or someone that did something awesome that day! We can’t wait for tomorrow when we get to go bouldering at Bolder!
