Day 10: Entering and Exiting Groups

We cannot believe today is our last day of camp. It has been so much fun getting to know all of you and making new friends these past two weeks!

We started off our morning with a camp wide game of capture the flag. Campers worked together to decide who was going to be on defence and who was going to be on offence. Both teams were victorious and brought the flag back to their side more than once.

Afterwards, we had some big gulps of water, a snack and transitioned into social skill. Today, Phoenix talked to us about entering and exiting groups. Starting up conversations with others can sometimes be a very scary thing to do. We talked about how to enter conversations and how we can leave conversations. A good question to potentially ask your camper is, what are some ways that you can enter into a conversation with others? Some ways we discussed today are by saying hi to the other person and asking them how they are. We also discussed how important it is to let people know when you are exiting a conversation. A good question to potentially ask your campers is, what are some ways you can exit a conversation?

Following social skill, it was time for clubs. At STEM club, we worked on making paper airplanes. At Art/Music Club we had karaoke and in Sports Club we played dodgeball and hockey.

Before we knew it, it was time for lunch and then choice! Today we chose only one choice to go to. Some of us went to rock painting with Atlas, while others went to fort making with Aurora!

Now, you might be wondering as to why we only had one choice block this afternoon instead of two. Your camper may have already told you, but this afternoon was Kangaroo Court! Throughout the last two weeks, campers have been submitting votes against counsellors they believe have committed crimes against camp. Today, the ballots were in and many counsellors were found charged with horrendous crimes against camp. Several votes were against, Bullseye as he was found without his walkie, Ember was charged for her terrible dance moves, and Brontosaurus for being a dinosaur. However, the counsellor found most incredibly guilty of their crimes was the one and only BlueJay. In a harrowing court battle, witnesses testified and defended Bluejay, but at the end of the day he was in fact that found guilty of not being a bird.

We cannot believe that camp has come to an end and are very sad to see you all go. However, we are also incredibly grateful for the time we got to spend together and are very proud of how much you have all grown. From all of us at Camp, we hope you have a wonderful and safe summer!
