Personal Problem Solving

Welcome back to another day at Camp Amicus! First, we did morning announcements in the Gym and played our Camp Wide Game for the day. We played a variety of tag games, including Freeze Tag, Revenge Tag, and Cat and Mouse!
Next, we had our social skill, which was Personal Problem Solving.
  • We started off by playing a game of Line-Up, in which campers were faced with the task of lining themselves up by height, and then by age, without talking.
  • Next, we discussed the acronym F.A.S.T.E.R. to use when solving problems. It stands for Freeze, Alternatives, Solutions, Try It, Evaluate, Re-try.
  • After that, we played the Tarp Raft game, where campers had to work together and communicate to fold up a tarp while standing on it.
  • Lastly, campers were split into groups with the task of building the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows. They were encouraged to use F.A.S.T.E.R. to resolve issues that arose.
Clubs are next! Sports Club played soccer, Art Club made paper lanterns, and Science Club made spaghetti and marshmallow bridges!
After lunch, we split up for choice. Our choices for the day were Sticker Making, Archery, and Field Games!
We concluded the day with Steps in the Right Direction. Steps are paw print stickers that we give to others for awesome things they did that day, like trying out something new or helping a friend!
We had such a fun day at camp today! See you tomorrow!
