Tuesday: Expected/Unexpected Behaviour

Welcome to our second day of overnight camp!

This morning was a windy one, but that didn’t stop many brave campers from doing their Polar Bear Plunge in pursuit of their Golden Polar Bear Award! This award goes out to the campers that are at Polar Bear dip every single day that they have at camp.

Afterwards we got together for breakfast, where we had scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon and fruit! We then spent some time in our 2:6 groups and tidying up our cabins, before heading to Camp Wide Game.

Camp Wide Game today was Human Scrabble! In this game, one camper per group tries to catch a counsellor, and then does a challenge to receive a letter to bring back to their group with a goal of creating the longest word or phrase!

We then split into two groups to do our social skill of the day: Expected/Unexpected Behaviour. In this social skill, we talked about how in friendships, there are behaviours that we expect, like listening and teamwork, and behaviours we don’t expect, like dishonesty or disrespect. We also talked about the social balancing spectrum, and how in friendships we have to find a balance between giving and receiving.

It was then time for lunch, and today we had tomato soup, grilled cheese and veggies!

After lunch we headed back to our cabins for rest hour. Here campers are encouraged to nap, read, or do any other quiet activity. This also ensures we all have enough energy for our choices for the day, which were water games, low ropes and bracelet making.

After an exciting afternoon we spent time with our 2:6 groups, before heading to free time! Next, we enjoyed some taco in a bag for supper!

After supper, we played our second camp wide game of the day: Dress the Beast! In this game, two teams compete on a field to infiltrate each other’s bases, steal an item of clothing, and return to their side of the field without being tagged. The winning team is decided by the amount of clothing each “Beast” has on by the end of the game!

We can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
