DC 4 Being part of a group
Welcome back to camp this is our second last day! Campers are headed to village square today!
We started off today with the camp wide game, today’s camp wide game was temple of doom. Our camp wide alt game was giant jenga. Campers are divided into three groups and the goal for one of the teams is to get the treasure at the end of the gym, two of them are tasked with throwing dodge balls to try to get the running team out. Whoever ends up with the most treasure at the end wins!
After camp wide game we head towards social skills! Today’s focus was being a part of a group. -
Campers began with playing rhythm master, one camper was tasked with starting a rhythm and one was the detective the rest had to work together to fool the detective.
Campers were given bad and good examples scenarios to act out a bad example given would be waiting in line together budging and pushing people would cause them to fall and get hurt. A good example when everyone is dancing why not join in on the fun?!
Another activity campers tried to keep the ball in the air with one different person touching once at a time, after failed attempts they worked together to find solutions to keep the ball in the air more. Saying “I got it” was one solution that kept the ball in the air more.
In a group setting campers learned to understand that everyone has an input and the best way to succeed in a group setting is by listening as well as not talking over others.
After social skills campers transition to clubs. The sports club played basketball, art club painted and science club made bouncy balls! Clubs end a little bit short today so we have time for a full lunch before we head off to village square.
What a great day and a great way to end off our second last day of camp! We are excited to have you back tomorrow for our last day at camp with kangaroo awards as well as the end of camp slideshow!
