DC 4 What other people are thinking

Welcome back campers we are excited to start day 2 with you!

We start off today with announcements campers get to choose their choices of the day and are introduced to clubs today! Campers also get to choose their swimming preferences for Thursday at village square.

After announcements we head off into the field for our camp wide game today phobia! Counselors choose a phobia it can be a phobia of walking backwards, phobia of blue, phobia of dandelions. The campers are tasked with trying to guess the phobia based on the reaction the counselor gives them.

Today our social skill focused on what other people are thinking.

  • Campers began with trying to guess what the counselor is thinking, one counselor was thinking of a certain super hero. Campers asked if it was marvel or dc, have a mask was he wearing a suit.

  • Campers were then introduced to the 5 senses. Sight, Touch, Smell, Taste and Hearing.

  • Another activity campers are to close their eyes and the counselor picks one camper to yell something out. Campers try to figure out who it was. The camper chosen was usually a dead give away due to their body language and especially because of their unique voice!

  • Campers then drew thought bubbles if what they were thinking and saw at the end that many campers had matching thoughts in their own bubbles.

It is nearly impossible to read what someone is thinking or feeling. The best approach to find out is to listen and to ask questions about what they are thinking and what they are feeling to gain a better understanding.

Campers transition towards clubs after. Sports club played hockey, Art club made paper planes and Science club made catapults!

After clubs campers take a lunch break they head towards choice. Today’s choices are water games, dungeons and dragons and gaga ball.

Campers switch up with their second choice block of the day!

We end off camp with steps in the right direction can’t wait for tomorrow!
