DC 3 Welcome to Camp Amicus!
Hello everyone, Welcome to camp! Whether you're a returning camper or a new camper we are excited to have you here to begin our journey through camp this year.
We start off every morning with announcements. Today we started with some ground rules of camp.
Respect ourselves, others and the environment around us
Always buddy up when we are going to the washroom or getting a drink
After announcements we get right into our camp wide game, today’s game is human scrabble. Each camper is to chase after a runner/letter holder to get a letter. After the camper tags the runner they are given a letter.
Campers are sent to find as many letters as they can, using found letters they must work together to form the longest word/phrase they can.
There can only be one runner and they can only take one letter at a time, the team with the longest word/phrase wins.
Campers get moving and familiar with each other right away with this camp wide game where everyone has a task to work together to complete the word/ phrase!
After a quick transition we move towards our 2:6 time this is where we get to know our fellow campers more! Campers get to spend time with their 2:6 group playing games, creating braids, bracelets and a contract. For their contract some campers would draw a circle and right in the circle what they would want to see out of camp, and things they didn’t want to see outside of the circle.
Campers refuel at lunch time and then campers head off to choices. At the beginning of each morning with announcements counselors note down their choices. Choices are water games, dungeons & dragons and lawn games.
After today’s first choice block campers switched up into their second choice of the day!
We end off today with steps in the right direction! Campers and counselors gather around and hand out step stickers. A step sticker is given for a step in the right direction. Campers and counselors give out to whoever they think had a step in the right direction, a step sticker can be given for example following the camp rules. We will see you tomorrow!
