DC 1 Welcome to Camp Amicus!
Hello everyone! Welcome to Camp! We are all eager to meet you and begin our journey in Camp Amicus!
We began our day by welcoming campers and explaining the rules of Camp Amicus! Camp counselors began by mentioning the rule of respect. Respect nature, ourselves, and others! Introductions happen next as we get to know our fellow campers and counselors! Before we get into the camp wide game, campers are given a choice between the activities they would like to partake in! Bracelet making, lawn games, and 9 square in the air were today’s choices!
Everyday we start off with a camp wide game when campers are settled in! Human scrabble was the game of choice! Every group decides on the prompt, each camper is to chase after a runner/ letter holder to get a letter. After the camper tags the runner , the camper is given a task by the runner to complete. Once complete the camper can take the letter back to their group. Campers get moving right away with this camp wide game where everyone has a task to work together to complete the prompt!
Following, we go towards 2:6 time. During this time campers & counselors have time to get to know each other! Campers work on goal mountains, making braids and playing games with counselors as well as working together to create a camp contract within the whole group. When creating a camp contract campers brainstorm on what actions we want to see at camp! As well as things we want to avoid at camp! This gives campers a choice in how they want their camp experience to be!
After lunch we have our first choice in the day! The campers choose between bracelet making, lawn games and 9 square in the air .
After campers recharged with a snack break, their following choices are lawn games and 9 square in the air! Games like spike ball and 9 square in the air help build team camaraderie!
It was a great first day at camp! Although its just the beginning! We ended it with bang with giving out steps stickers. When campers feel like another camper or counselor has done something good we give them a step sticker! We are excited to see you tomorrow!
