DC 3 What other people are feeling
Welcome back campers to the second week of camp! We start off today with announcements where campers get to choose their clubs and choices this morning.
After announcements we are headed to the main field to play the camp wide game today’s camp wide game was hostage! Two teams are made and each team selects a counselor to be the hostage, each team tries to take the hostage and hides them! Once the game begins both teams try to free the hostage, If the hostage is tagged while returning to their side, they walk back to their hiding spot and the team must try again.
Today our focus for social skills was what others are feeling.
Campers began playing your majesty card game. Campers would be assigned a card from a deck on their back. King, Queen and jack were royalty.
Campers tried to see how different it would feel if they had a royalty card. Royalty members are given more attention and are asked more question as for non royalty are quickly disregarded.
Another activity campers gathered around in a circle. One acted out a feeling and campers were supposed to guess based on body language what and how they were feeling. A ball was passed around and whoever had the ball had to come up with something supportive to say that will help with what they are feeling.
Once campers were done they got to make crowns as well drawing of an feeling an a supportive saying that goes with that feeling.
Campers learned that to recognize and identify body language as well as the best way to understand what someone is feeling is through asking them direct questions as well as picking up on body language.
After social skills campers transitoned towards clubs. Sports club played hockey, science club made catapults and art club made origami.
After a lunch break campers head towards their choice blocks of the day today. Water games, archery and gym games, spa day were today’s choices.
Campers switched up towards their second choice of today! After we end off camp today with steps we will see you tomorrow make sure to prepare for the sun tomorrow its going to be a hot one!
