DC 4 Social Rules
Welcome back to another day at Camp Amicus! First, we did morning announcements in the Gym and played our Camp Wide Game for the day. We played a game called Temple of Doom, in which campers had to bring as many bean bags as they could back to their team’s side, while dodging dodgeballs!
Next, we had our social skill, which was Social Rules.
We started off by playing a game called Green Glass Door, in which campers had to ask if they could bring certain items through a door. Only some objects can go through!
Next, we discussed different social rules that we encounter in our everyday lives. These rules determine how we act or behave in certain situations and can sometimes be unspoken expectations. Social rules aren’t set in stone and can change depending on the situation you are in, the people you are with, or even over time.
After that, we played a game called “Solve a Riddle”, in which campers had to chase counsellors and tag them. Once they were tagged, counsellors gave campers a riddle to solve and a specific scenario. Then, with their teams, they had to decide if the scenario was a good or bad social norm.
Clubs are next! Sports Club played basketball, Art Club made popsicle stick kites, and Science Club made mini solar systems.
After lunch, we split up for choice. Our choices for the day were Terrariums, Crab Handball, and Kickball!
We concluded the day with Steps in the Right Direction.
We had so much fun at camp today! Tomorrow we're going to Calaway Park! Make sure that your camper is bringing a lunch with them and is not bringing money. See you tomorrow!
