Honing your Inner Counsellor

Our second week of CIT was filled with action-packed activities that helped our counsellors-in-training develop their skills. From first aid to cooking we did it all. To start off the week we did the Standard First Aid and CPR-C training course and our group all became first aid certified. Following the first aid course, the CIT’s got a chance to put their facilitation skills to the test by running their first choice program. The programs they chose to run were Bead Animals/Bracelets, and make your own Terrarium. All of the CIT’s gave their best effort and all the campers had a lot of fun at their programs!

On Tuesday and Thursday we made our own lunch. Tuesday, they set up an outdoor kitchen and made delicious quesadillas. On Thursday, we made teriyaki chicken and vegetable stir fry. We were so lucky to have with us our camp  photographer, G-force who helped us to cook the rice and chicken!

The last day of the week they ran through what a day in the life of a counsellor at Overnight camp is like. We finished off the week celebrating all the accomplishments they made by going on a boat ride and getting tossed around on the tube. To top off the day we spent some time discussing what they had learned throughout the past two weeks. Our CIT’s are all prepared and ready for the last week, where they will be shadowing our counsellors.
