DC 3 Conversations

Welcome back campers for day 4 of camp! It sure is a sunny one, we start off our day with announcements where campers get to pick their choices as well as their swimming preferences for swimming at village square tomorrow.

Our Camp Wide Game was Capture the Flag, Camp Wide Alt played Jenga. Two teams are split up for capture the flag and both hide their flags as well as try to capture the flag whoever gets the flag over mid field is victorious!

Afterward, campers head towards their social skill of the day: Conversations! Conversations can be hard to have especially when we want to start one and keep it flowing. Campers are first introduced to “P.I.G”; Planning, Information, and Goal. Planning what you're going to say will help carry conversations better. As well as having information to talk about and finally knowing what our goal is with the conversation will help clarify the issue.

An activity campers played was back facing each other and one was given an object to describe using words, while the other was tasked with drawing the object with the description, without looking! It can be hard to know exactly what the other person is saying so we need to be specific and clarifying ourselves when we have conversations.

Campers also wrote and drew out step by step of their “Perfect Burger” and after they went up to their counsellors and each counsellor reacted differently helping campers get an understanding of conversation that it can be interpreted differently!

Campers transition towards Clubs after social skill. Sports club played frisbee, art club made melty beads and science club made paper boats!

Campers have a much needed lunch and are off to their choices that they picked earlier this morning at announcements. Today’s choices were water games, board games and pokemon games!

We finish off our days with steps in the right direction and we are off to village square tomorrow for swimming. Have a great rest of the day!
