ON 3 - DAY 1: Welcome to Camp!

Welcome to CAMP EVERYONE! We are all so excited for another incredible week of activities, learning and fun!

We started our day with sign in at foothills academy, before packing into the bus and heading to pioneer lodge for our week.

Once we arrived we hopped into a quick community meeting before having a snack, starting to work on our braids and taking all our bags over to our cabins. Once we were set up in our cabins it was time for lunch! Which was sub sandwiches with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and condiments.

Our counsellors also sold their “Choices” for today. Choice is a time where our campers can choose which activities they would like to participate in during our two choice blocks. The choices on offer were rock climbing/canoeing, camp olympics, and spa day.

It was then time for a camp tour, where our campers had a chance to see all the exciting places around camp like the climbing wall, the pond and stables!

We climbed, canoed, painted our nails and won some medals! Choice is always a highlight for our campers here at camp.

Moving on from choice it was time for some 2:6 and free time. This is a great time for our campers to work on their goals for camp, and take a break from our planned activities.

We had a delicious supper of chicken pot pie with salad and then headed off to our opening campfire! Which was so much fun! We all sang, danced, and laughed ourselves silly.

We then handed out “steps in the right direction“, our time to recognize each other for the awesome things we have done throughout the day! A step can be given out with a reason or without, but it always feels great to receive one.

It was then time to get ourselves ready for our bed time programming and get some much needed rest. What will a new day bring us? Find out tomorrow here at camp amicus!
