ON 3 - DAY 2: Expected/Unexpected Behaviours

We started our second day of camp with one of our favourite camp amicus traditions. POLAR PLUNGE! This is an opportunity for campers to wake up a little earlier, and take a dip in the pool for an instant shock of energy and alertness.

It was then time for our breakfast, which was baked oatmeal with fruit salad and yogurt. We jumped into some quick 2:6 time before heading out for our first of two camp wide games today.

Cardio pictionary was our first camp wide game! In cardio pictionary campers must run after counsellors and tag them to receive their pictionary prompt. After which they can go back to their group and start drawing for their teammates to guess!

After a fun and tiring camp wide, it was time for social skills. Today’s social skill is “expected/unexpected behaviours” . This social skill focuses on helping campers recognize how people expect us to act a certain way whether at home or at camp! Some unexpected behaviours could be getting very loud very suddenly, refusing help when frustrated with a task, or throwing things when something doesn’t go your way. We talked about why exhibiting expected behaviours is important, and how our behaviours affect those around us.

Lunch was up next where we had pizza and veggies! Spruce cabin were the lucky winners of our coveted GOLDEN BROOM for having the cleanest cabin, so they got to get lunch first. It was then time for our rest hour, this is a block for campers to spend time in their cabins/bunks, and partake in some quieter activities like reading, drawing, or playing a board game.

It was then time for choice! We had archery/itc, rock painting and dodgeball on offer for our choice activities today.

We did some more 2:6 / free time, and then headed off to dinner which was stir fry with rice and vegetables.

We then had our camp wide dance, which is always a highlight for campers. After dancing like no one was watching, it was time for a snack and steps in the right direction.

Afterwards we all got prepped for bed and headed to our cabins. Another adventure awaits us tomorrow.
