ON 3 - DAY 3: Language/Interpretation
It's already the middle of our week at camp, and time is just flying by! We started our day with another polar plunge, before heading off to breakfast which was eggs, hash browns, cinnamon buns and cantaloupe.
After 2:6 it was time for our first camp wide game of the day. Today’s camp wide game was TEMPLE OF DOOM! In this game, campers must run a gauntlet of dodgeball runners to capture and bring back bean bags.
Social skills focused on language and interpretation today. We talked about how we communicate with others, and how our words can be interpreted in different ways.
We played the game “tank”, where one camper is a blindfolded tank driver and the other is trying to help them navigate their surroundings, and locate other tanks to throw a ball of yarn at them. This is a great way to help campers work on their verbal communication skills, and it’s just very fun and silly to play.
Lunch was some yummy mac & cheese with hotdog and salad. This led right into our daily rest hour, before we headed out for choice. Today’s choices were swimming, Pokémon go and slime campaign.
Slime campaign is where our campers make posters advocating to slime specific counselours during kangaroo court. Kangaroo Court is our mock trial that we run every camp, where campers can nominate counselours to be slimed for committing “Camp Crimes'', these crimes can range from “Remedy can’t make their own remedies.” to “Iris forgot to bring sunglasses while it was sunny out.” We then hold our trial with prosecution and defense teams, then one or two counselours are slimed for everyone's enjoyment!
2:6 / free time was up next, and that led straight into our supper time. Which was chicken thigh, naan bread and salad.
We then headed to the camp wide field to play our final camp wide game of the day. Capture the flag!
With the penultimate day of camp in site, it was time for us to give out our steps and then settle into our bedtime programming.
