ON 4 - Day 4: What Others are Thinking / Kangaroo Court
The penultimate day of camp began with our polar plunge, and a breakfast of hash browns with egg, sausages and fruit.
We then got to start the fun early with doing our choice activities in the morning! Today’s choice options are horseback riding, infection tag, and comic book making.
After getting ourselves all tired out and hungry (also heavily rained on), it was time for lunch which was grilled cheese with ham and veggies and we then moved into our daily rest hour.
It was then time for social skills, today’s social skills was “What others are thinking”. We played the game “around the world” where campers must work to spell out around the world, using items that they want to take on a trip around the world. The catch is they don’t know this secret rule until after, this is a great way to show that we can’t always know what others are thinking but we can ask questions to find out. We also talked about ways to understand others thoughts, through body language, understanding each other's perspective, and active listening.
After social skills it was time for the only camp wide game of the day, human tracker.
Up next was one of our campers favourite and counselors least favourite activities… KANGAROO COURT! This is our mock trial where campers can nominate counselors to be slimed for breaking “Camp Crimes” this can range from forgetting a water bottle, to fantastical crimes like pickles not being a real pickle.
Koda and Pickles were the unlucky recipients of a slimy punishment this week!
Dinner was pasta with meat sauce, salad and GARLIC BREAD! It was absolutely delicious and led us right into our closing campfire.
We can’t believe how fast the week has gone! and we hope to see you tomorrow for our final blog here from camp amicus.
