ON 4 - Day 3: Language / Interpretation
It’s the middle of the week, and we started our day with another pond polar plunge. We had our breakfast which was baked oatmeal with toppings, fruit and yogurt.
Next up was camp wide game, which is a camp favourite TEMPLE OF DOOM. Here campers must traverse a gauntlet of dodgeball throwers to capture treasure from the TEMPLE OF DOOM and run back to their safe zone.
Today’s social skills was language / interpretation. This skill helps our campers recognize how we all interpret communication differently, and how to be mindful when communicating with others. We played camp apprentice, a fun activity where campers are broken off into groups and tasked with designing a product that can be used at camp. They are given specific roles, and set out to effectively communicate their ideas, opinions and thoughts with each other. It’s a great way to show how these skills come in handy in a more “real world” scenario.
For lunch we had pizza! With vegetables and condiments. Choice today was an absolute blast! We got to slip and slide, write up campaign posters for kangaroo court, and make our very own tie dye shirts!
Supper was burgers with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and chips. This led right into our final camp wide for the day, a classic game of capture the flag.
We then headed back from capture the flag to hand out steps and get ready for our penultimate day of camp.
