ON 5 - Day 1: Welcome to Camp!

Welcome to camp everyone! We are so excited for you all to join us for an exciting week of activities, fun and most importantly learning! 

We began our day by loading all of our stuff onto the bus, and leaving Calgary for our overnight campsite Pioneer Lodge. Once we arrived we had a quick community meeting, before moving all our bags into our new cabins for the week.

It was then time for lunch, which was taco salad with lettuce, tomatoes and other toppings. Our counsellors also sold their choice activities. Choice is where we give the campers the ability to choose which two activities they want to partake in during our two choice blocks. We then moved into a camp tour, showing our campers the sights and activities they will be able to take part in during our week here!

Choice was up next, and today’s choices were rock climbing/canoeing, improv games, and rock painting.

After such excitement, it was time to calm down with some much needed 2:6 and free time.

It was then time for our supper which was burgers with lettuce, tomatoes and veggies on the side! This then led right into our opening campfire!

Campfire was so much fun, we danced, we sang, and we all stayed nice and warm from our digital flames.

We moved into “Steps in the right direction” our way of building a sense of community at camp. Here the campers are able to hand out steps to each other and counsellors to thank them for doing something awesome that day.

It was finally time to head to bed for the day and get some much needed rest. What exciting adventures await us tomorrow? Come find out here at camp amicus!
