ON 5 - Day 2: Social Rules
Welcome to day two of camp amicus! We got to start off our day with one of the best camp amicus traditions today, POLAR PLUNGE. This is where the campers can wake up a little earlier, and take a quick dip in the pool for an instant shock of energy and alertness. If a camper does the polar plunge once during their week they get a beautiful silver polar charm… But, if they go every single day for the whole week they get the special coveted gold polar bear charm!
Breakfast was up next and after our morning hungry games, song and trivia it was time to eat. We had delicious baked oatmeal with syrup and fruit salad.
It was then 2:6 time with our groups, before heading off to the first of two camp wide games. We played cardio pictionary, a great game where campers must chase down a counselor to get a pictionary prompt that their group must guess. The team with the most correct answers wins!
After a quick 15 minute transition, it was time for social skills. Today’s social skills was “Social Rules”, this social skill helps teach our campers all about those hidden rules we all follow on a daily basis, and how they change when we get older. Some examples of social rules are not cutting in front of lines, asking to give someone a hug, and actively listening when someone else is talking.
It was then time for lunch, which was PIZZA! with veggie sticks. Everyone ate it up and moved into a much needed rest hour. This is our time at camp to focus on low energy activities like reading, drawing or really anything they can do in their cabins/bunks.
Choice block was up next with today's choices being archery/itc, Pokémon go, and bead animal making
We then had 2:6 / free time before meeting up back at the chalet for a supper of honey garlic chicken with rice and veggies. Everyone then headed outside as our counsellors set up for our camp wide dance!
We boogied, jumped, and shuffled all night long, and after such an exciting evening it was time to hand out steps and head to bed for the evening.
