ON 5 Monday: Social Rules
This morning we did our first polar bear dip of the session. At 7:30am campers and counsellors get to choose to participate in a daily dip in the pool, if they go every morning they get the Golden Polar bear award! After that we got ready for the day and headed inside for breakfast where we had, “peaceful pancakes.” For peaceful pancakes, where we were encouraged to keep our voices down and maintain a peaceful mealtime, whispering with others at our table. Then we got back in our 2:6 groups to get ready for the day, then got together to play our camp wide game: Phobias!
In this game, counsellors were scattered around the field with a specific phobia. It is up to the campers to figure out what that fear is and bring them back safely to our program coordinator Aroura to earn a point.
After a quick snack, we split up to learn about our social skill of the day, which is: Social Rules. The unspoken rules in society, like how a person should dress for a job interview or behaviors that are acceptable vs unacceptable. To reinforce what we learned, we played a game called dress the beast. In this game there are two teams and in each team they decide who is their teams “beast” and the goal is to get clothes placed on the other teams safe zone and bring them back to be the first team to fully dress their beast for specific scenarios.

For lunch we had mac and cheese. We then went back to our cabins for a rest hour. During this time, campers and counsellors are encouraged to stay in their bunks to either do a quiet activity for an hour or sleep before our choice block.
For choice today, we have the option of either canoeing, rock climbing, or a spa day in the shade! Then for dinner we had spaghetti. Afterwards, we got together to play our second camp wide game of the day: Capture the flag! After that we did steps in the right direction, then got ready for bed!
Today was so fun and the best part of it is the fact we get to do even more tomorrow!
