Wednesday: What Others Are Feeling
Welcome back to overnight camp!
Today we had some baked oatmeal, sausages, fruit, yogurt and cereal for breakfast, but even before that we started our day with a Polar Bear Plunge (including an appearance from a frog friend)!
After breakfast, we spent some time in our 2:6 groups and getting our cabins super clean, and then we headed to Camp Wide Game, where we played Temple Of Doom. In this game there are three teams that take turns switching between runners and throwers. The runners goal is to make it across the temple and grab “treasure” on the other side and bring it back to their side, while the throwers protect the treasure using dodgeballs.
We then dove into our social skills for the day: What Others Are Feeling! In this social skill, we learned what clues we can use to tell what others are feeling and how we can respond to different feelings! This was supported by games, including the Majesty Card Game, where everyone has a card taped to their back and everyone tries to talk only to the people with a face card on their back.
By the time we wrapped up our social skill, we were all hungry, so we headed to lunch where we had chicken fingers, fries and veggies. After lunch, we had rest hour and then we dove into the day’s choice activities: nature painting, archery, and ziplining!
We wrapped up our day with some free time playing soccer, visiting the horses and playing chess before having taco in a bag for supper: yum!
Last but not least, we had our much anticipated dance! We had so much fun singing and dancing to everyone’s favorite tunes, before Steps in the Right Direction and bedtime.
We had so much fun today, and we cannot believe tomorrow is going to be our last full day of camp, but that won’t stop us from having the most fun possible!
