Day 5: Blowing off Steam

AC2 Blog-50.jpg

The first week of camp has gone by in a flash! We had so much fun and wrapped up the week  with some fantastic activities today.

We started with announcements and a camp wide game of Human Scrabble! In this game, campers must chase down counsellors and complete challenges to receive letters. With these letters, campers spell out words about certain themes. The themes today were the Olympics or which counsellor they want to get slimed! Quack Quack seems to be the frontrunner right now..

Next up was social skill, where the focus was blowing off steam. We discussed that everyone gets frustrated and angry sometimes, and that it is important to release these emotions in a productive and safe way. Everyone blows off steam differently, so Axel and Ivy lead us through a variety of activities to practice different styles. For those of us who need a physical release, we tried the run and scream activity and broke sticks. For those of us who prefer a more low energy method to blow off steam, we made bracelets and blew up balloons with vinegar and baking soda. A question to ask your camper might be, How do you prefer to blow off steam?

Following social skill, we took a quick break then headed to clubs! In Outdoor Skills Club we assembled tents, in Art club we drew, and in Sports Club we played soccer!

Afterwards, we took a break for lunch before moving into our choice activities. The options today were canoeing with T-Bone, moving Mafia with Solstice and terrarium making with Gecko.
