Day 6: Family Dynamics

Welcome to week two of camp! We were so excited to see campers after the long weekend and are looking forward to a fun filled week!

We began our day with announcements and a camp wide game of fear factor! In fear factor,  counsellors have all mysteriously developed fears of things around camp. These can range from being afraid of grass, hats, other counsellors or anything else in between! Campers worked together to determine what the counsellors were afraid of and then moved them across the field to Solo so she could give them a point.

After camp wide game, we had a quick break and some water before transitioning to our social skill of the day- family dynamics. With Astro and Eclipse, we brainstormed what family dynamics are (relationships between people in a family), the traits of a supportive adult (truthful, understanding, kind, helpful) and the traits of a trustful child (they turned out to be very similar to a supportive adult). Eclipse’s group then played a game of Family Dynamics Jeopardy while Astro’s group played evolution tag with a fun family dynamics twist. A question for your camper may be, what can you do to be trusted by both friends and family? What makes a person untrustworthy?

Next up was clubs where campers built and raced sleds in Sports Club, practiced origami in Art Club and drew maps of the camp in Outdoor Skills Club!

At lunch we took a much needed break from the heat, reapplied sunscreen and had lots of water. Following lunch was choice activities! Today the options were pirate games with Ivy, dodgeball with Ranger, or Kangaroo Court prep with Bronco.

We then made our way to Steps in the Right Direction before heading home for the day. We had a lot of fun and can’t wait to see all the costumes during character day tomorrow!
