Day 5: Blowing off Steam

Welcome back to another beautiful day at camp! 

We began with announcements before transitioning to camp wide game. Today, we played a new game called celebrities! In this game, campers wrote as many characters as they could think of on pieces of paper (superman, spongebob, Elsa, etc) then, a team member drew one of the pieces and would describe the character to the group. It gets harder as the game moves on when you are limited to how many words you can use to describe your character!

Next up was snack and then social skill where the focus was blowing off steam. Everyone gets angry or upset sometimes, and it is important for us to be able to deal with these emotions in a productive and safe way. Oak brought us through several different activities that taught us a different way to blow off steam. These included drawing, working out, dancing and meditating! A question to ask your camper could be, how do you like to blow off steam?

Following social skill, we rehydrated then headed to clubs. In Sports Club, we played capture the flag dodgeball, in Art Club we made flaming ceramic art and in Outdoor Skills Club we built hammocks!

Next up was lunch and then choice. Campers had the options of canoeing with Yoda, entering spy school with Eclipse, or playing Moving Mafia with Solstice!

Before we knew it, it was Steps in the Right Direction and then pickup! This first week of camp has flown by and we cannot wait to get started again on Monday.
