Day 7: Problem Solving
Today was the perfect day for Ocean Day. Camp was transformed into an underwater wonderland filled with schools of fish (I mean campers) swimming from activity to activity. We began our morning with announcements and then an ocean themed game that involved all sorts of activities like shaving King Trident's large shaving foam bead with water guns, catching jellyfish, and surfing for treasure.

After camp wide game, it was time for a snack and some water before we splashed on over to our skill of the day- problem solving. Whether we’re in the ocean or on dry land, there’s a lot of problem solving that we all do in a day, sometimes without even noticing it! T-Bone led us through a discussion about some positive ways we can problem solve. Sometimes, problem solving can involve a lot of teamwork. Therefore, a good question to potentially ask your camper may be, what are some ways that you can problem solve with others? This morning, we discussed how it’s important to listen to everyone in our group as some of their ideas may be very beneficial to our own. We also discussed that it’s important for us to identify the problem, brainstorm ways we can solve it, and plan how it will look in action before attempting to solve it. On the first try, we might not be able to fix it, but we can always try again. Problem solving can take a lot of patience and perseverance, but we all have the skills to be excellent problem solvers!

Afterwards, it was time for clubs! Today in Outdoor Club, we made compasses to find our way out of Atlantis (or rather to help us play a game of camouflage). In Arts Club, we created wonderful ocean themed sculptures and in Sports Club, we worked on our advanced dodgeball skills.
As our morning activities wrapped up, we transitioned to lunch and free time before beginning our choice activities. This afternoon for choice we had, shell art with Spic-E, gaga ball and elephant ball with Solstice, and fort making.
