DC 2 Conversations

Welcome back Campers hope you had a good weekend and are ready to start off this week at camp!

Today we start off with the Camp Wide Game not before campers get to choose their ride preferences for Calaway park this week as well as their choices for later on today.

Our camp-wide game today is hostage. Two teams are made and each team selects a counselor to be the hostage, each team tries to take the hostage and hides them! Once the game begins both teams try to free the hostage, If the hostage is tagged while returning to their side, they walk back to their hiding spot and the team must try again.

Today our social skills revolve around conversations. Our first activity in this game campers are going to be entering and exiting conversations quickly to work on our conversation skills.

  • A counselors gives the campers a prompt find someone who likes the same ice cream as you they say hi then the counselor gives them a gesture instead of a handshake to say good bye and exit the conversation.

  • After counselors as campers to go to a partner from the handshake game and introduce them seriously. The campers distinguished the difference between introducing themselves verbally and non verbal techniques some agreed the non formal way was more comfortable but knowing it only would be acceptable with a friend not formally

  • Counselors introduced fever a technique to approach conversations each time a camper used one of the letters in fever they would get a bead for their bracelets

After campers transition towards clubs! Sports club played soccer, Art club created art with found objects and Science club made catapults.

Campers transition towards their first choice block today! Choices were painting pots, Gaga ball and 9 Square in the air!

After a quick snack break campers move forward to their last choice of block of the day.

We end off our day with steps in the right direction, we will see you tomorrow!
