Day 5: SMART Goals
Happy Monday everyone and welcome back to another fun filled week here at Camp Amicus!
After welcome this morning, we started off our day with a camp wide game of capture the flag. This game of capture the flag was a little different because we got to hide the flag from each team, making the game a lot harder for us as we had to try and find the flag without getting caught.

Following camp wide game, we transitioned into our skill of the day- goal setting. We learned about creating SMART goals for ourselves. Campers, do you remember what the letters in SMART goals stand for? Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. After learning this, we went a series of activities to help reinforce what each word meant and how it could be applied in our daily lives. It’s important to remember that some goals take longer to achieve than others and we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves when meeting our goals is taking a little longer than we expected.

We had a lot going on at clubs today. We played touch football in sports club, made slime in STEM, and worked on refining our ukulele skills in Music/Arts club. What was your favourite part of club today campers? Do you remember learning about viscosity if you were in STEM club? Viscosity is how fast a fluid flows. Do you think your slime would have a higher viscosity than honey?

For choice today, campers used their creativity to create beautiful clay sculptures. Below are pictures of what some campers created today. Campers, do you remember which one is yours? Another choice option today was creating your own hopscotch on the tarmac. Campers created a long course that was hard to complete, but they did a great job and cheered each other on as they went. Our final choice of the day was to construct your own bow and arrow. Campers collected sticks to create their own bow and arrow and later decorated them.
Last, but certainly not least was steps. Each day campers award steps to fellow campers and counsellors for a good deed. After steps, it was time for a cherished tradition here at Camp Amicus- the pie throw. When a camper’s birthday falls on a camp day, they get to pick a counsellor to throw a pie at. Today, Astro was lucky enough to be the receiver of such pie.
