Day 6: Blowing off Steam
Happy Meme Day! We love meme’s here at Camp Amicus and were all incredibly excited to spend a fun filled meme day with all of you. Before camp, we decorated the walls with our favourite camp memes and made sure that we all dressed up as memes. Do you have a favourite meme that a counsellor wore?

For camp wide game this morning, we played, Do You Even Meme? Campers were all given one picture to turn into a meme. They did so by chasing down counsellors who, upon completing a challenge, would provide campers with a meme card. Campers worked together in their 2:6 groups to pick out the best meme card to go with the picture. Each card was presented to our esteemed panel of judges who decided who had the ultimate meme.

After camp wide game, we transitioned onto our skill of the day—blowing off steam. We talked about how we like to blow off steam when things aren’t going our way. Campers talked about what they like to do in groups taking the opportunity to write their ideas down to share. Afterwards, we talked about some positive coping mechanisms to help us blow off steam. We scream ran, we played some soccer, we also made paper airplanes and sensory sticks to help us refocus. Campers, what are some ways you like to blow off steam? If you can’t do what you usually like to do, what are some other options available to you that you might have learned about today?
In clubs today, we made playdough in STEM, played volleyball in Sports club, and painted in Arts club.

For choice today, we had the opportunity to engaging in Super-Secret Spy Training with T-Bone, Yoga and Spa treatments with Monarch and/or Nature Art with Astro. Super-Secret Spy Training were super fun because we played camouflage, capture the (intelligence) flag, and human tracker. However, these activities were also difficult because we had to be quick and calm all at once in order for us to hide. In nature art, we collected fallen leaves, sticks, and flowers and organized them on our canvas’. In Yoga and Spa treatments, we stretched, did some yoga, painted each other’s nails, and made bracelets if we had extra time.

We ended off the day with STEPS and since it is our counsellor coordinator, Indigo’s, birthday, we had to throw another pie in someone’s face. After much deliberation and a camper vote, the one and only Chinook was selected.
We’d be lying if we didn’t say it was another mem(e)orable day at camp. See you all tomorrow!
