Day 2: Friendship
Today was another great day at Camp Amicus. The day started off with camp wide game. Campers, do you remember what our camp wide game was? Human scrabble! Campers were given a question they had to find the answer to and then they had to catch counsellors that had the letters they were looking for to spell the word. Bonus points were awarded if you found some trash in the field. Campers were super-fast and tired out their counsellors.

Next up for us was social skill. The focus of social skill for us today is friendship! Campers talked about what some good qualities are in friendships and what some not-so-good qualities may be. Campers, do you remember what some qualities of a good friend might be? Is a good friend someone who listens to you? Is a good friend someone who respects you? Is a good friend someone you can trust?
After social skill, campers went to clubs. We had Arts/Music Club, STEM Club, and Sports Club. In sports club we learned how to play ultimate frisbee. It’s a lot harder than it looks, but we had a lot of fun. In Arts/Music we wrote a rap song and got to try out different tunes with the ukulele, tambourine, and drums. In STEM we built bridges and learned about how soap reacts with milk and dye.

After lunch, campers headed off to choice! As per usual, this afternoon campers got to pick two choice programs that they were interested in. We had water games, improv, and photography. In water games we got to play with water guns and soak our counsellors, it was a lot of fun and nice to cool off since it was such a hot day. In improv we played a bunch of different improv games. One game we played is called Freeze. Have you ever played before? In Freeze, one person will be playing a character and when someone says freeze, that person freezes, and another person comes in to take over playing their character. It was a lot of fun, and we used our communicate skills and creativity. In our last choice, photography, campers learned about the different skills we use in photography and then they went on a scavenger hunt!

Overall, it was another fantastic day here at Camp Amicus. We are all looking forward to having you back here again tomorrow. It’s going to be another scorching hot day. Some things you might have in your backpack are:
Hat
Sunscreen
Water bottle
Snacks
Sunglasses
Change of clothes for water games!
A friendly reminder to parents, if you are dropping your camper off in the morning, please do not drop them off before 8:55am. We will not have counsellors out to welcome your kiddos at that time.
