Day 4: Bullying
It was another wonderful day here at Day Camp. We began with announcements and then a camp wide game of Force Field. Our team of Super Spies invaded the Secret Agents to capture flags hidden throughout the field. If we were tagged, we would drop the flags where we were and return back to our home base before trying again. We worked together and cheered each other on in order to get all the flags back to our home side.

After camp wide game, we took a big drink of water, had a snack, and transitioned into our social skill of the day- bullying. To lead our discussion, Blue Jay asked campers to write down any mean things they could think of (that were camp appropriate) into a heart drawn on their papers. He then asked us to rip those hearts into tiny pieces before putting them back together. Putting the hearts back together was difficult and Bluejay explained to us all that this is a representation of how we may feel when we get bullied or we witness others getting bullied. Afterwards, we played Blogy Tag and discussed what it means to be a bystander. A good question to ask your camper may be, what is a bystander? When we are bystanders, it’s important to stand up for those being bullied even if it feels scary. As bullying can be a difficult and scary situation, we took turns role playing various bullying situations. We discussed what was happening, how it made us feel, and what strategies we could use if we were even in those situations.

For clubs today, we had a bridge building competition in STEM, created some beautiful art with ceramic tiles in Music/Art club, and had a dodgeball tournament in Sports Club.
After clubs it was time for lunch and then choice. For choice this afternoon we had, tye dye with Atlas where we made some amazingly colourful shirts and learned how to make bracelets. We had Carnival Games with Phoenix where we played botchy ball, bowling, and tic tac toe. A good question you may ask your camper if they were in Carnival games is, what carnival game was your favourite? Perhaps your camper also made up their own carnival game. Lastly, but certainly not least, we had Gym Games with Aurora where we played kryptonite and hungry hungry hippos.
We finished off our day with steps and a big drink of water. See you tomorrow!
