DC 2 Language & Interpretation

It’s midweek day 3 of camp and with a relentless blaze from the sunlight despite the heat, camp goes on! As the campers are still out here full force! Campers begin the day with sun screening up and bug spraying up and we are off too Camp Wide Game!

Today’s Camp Wide Game was Cat and Mouse as well as multiple variations of tag and Camp Wide Alt drew and coloured pictures!

Campers head to the Camp room for a quick snack and water to refuel for social skill!

Today’s Social Skill is Language and Interpretation. Campers get introduced to rock brain and sponge brain for example rock brain is stuck in tunnel vision and wont be able to accept new ideas and adapt like sponge brain can!

  • Campers start with telephone and see how language and interpretation can be skewed when whispering one thing that goes around it can end up quite a bit different! It is essential we clarify and be intent in what we say to others.

  • Campers played Cardio Pictionary to help them learn and get a better understanding of idioms one of them was “get the cat out of the bag” . Campers also played tagged but they only had one partner to tag in a small circle boundary, this help them get a better understanding of spatial awareness and interpretation.

Campers refuel with food and head towards their clubs! Sports club played dodgeball, Science club made stomp rockets and art club made melty beads.

Campers head towards their choices for the day after a lunch break! Today’s Choices were Clay making, Just dancing and Fort dodgeball!

As the sun dies down so does our energy, we are ready to refuel at home and we are back at it again tomorrow! We end off our day with Steps in the right direction, we will see you tomorrow!
