DC 3 Zones of Regulation

Welcome back to Camp Amicus! It is day two, campers are out in full force and we are off to the races with our Camp Wide Game, phobias!

Today’s Camp Wide Game was Phobias where campers were entrusted to figure out counsellors phobias and bringing counsellors back to base safely! Each counsellor had a different phobia for example only being able to dance their way back to base.

After Camp Wide Game campers head towards their first Social Skill! Zone of regulations focus is on the individuals mood/zone they are in. Red zone is angry, overwhelmed. Blue zone is sad, tired. Yellow zone is excited, anxious. Green zone is happy, relaxed. Putting these moods into zones helps campers identify how they are feeling and make it more recognizable.

Campers begin with drawing an emotion and pass it to their right and based on that drawing emotion campers write down what zone they think it is! Zones can be interchangeable from each other and one camper might think scared can be in the yellow zone instead of the blue zone! Other campers hid emotions and were asked to find a certain emotions that fit into the red zone this helping them identify their zones!

After social skill campers switch to their clubs, Clubs are what campers choose today at announcements but unlike choice clubs are something you stick with the club throughout camp! Today the sports club played wall ball, Science club made water filtration cups and Art club did finger knitting!

After a much needed lunch break campers head towards their two choice blocks of the day! During morning announcements counsellors sell their choices and campers get to choose in the morning what choice they are in. Today’s choices were Fort Dodgeball, Dungeons and Dragons and Button making!

We end off our day with steps in the right direction! Hope everyone has an amazing rest of the day and we will see you bright and early tomorrow
