Day 4: Bullying

It was another wonderful day at camp today! After morning announcements, we headed out to the field for a camp wide game of Fear Factor! In order to play this game, campers had to figure out what counsellors were afraid of and bring them back safely to Squiggles who would then award them with a point. Counsellors were afraid of a variety of things, ranging from trees and grass, to shorts and people with blonde hair.

After camp wide game, we had a snack and some big gulps of water before transitioning to our social skill of the day- Bullying. Brontosaurus led us through a discussion about bullying and how we can identify it. We then partook in an obstacle course to collect prompts with prepared social situations on it. Working together with our groups, we discussed whether or not each social situation was an example of bullying behaviour or not. A good question to ask your camper may be, what happens if you see someone being bullied? Today, we discussed how you can ask the person who is doing the bullying to stop or get an adult for help. Brontosaurus reminded us that it’s important to show kindness and compassion to those around us. When we lift each other up, and support one another we will build strong meaningful relationships that will last.

After social skill, it was time for clubs. At STEM Club, campers learned about endothermic reactions by putting baking soda into a water bottle filled with vinegar and put a balloon on top. In Art/Music Club, we created art pieces on ceramic tile art.

Following lunch, it was time for choice! This afternoon, we had Phoenix leading Hero’s and Comics where campers got to draw their favourite superheroes and create their own comics. We had Monarch leading button making, and our own Camp Amicus version of the Olympic games.
