Day 3: Entering and Exiting Groups

Welcome back to another great day at Camp! We started off with morning announcements before jumping into a camp wide game of human scrabble- water edition! Campers were given a word to spell by Squiggles before they ran out into the field to catch counsellors who would have them complete a task before giving them a letter.

After camp wide game, we had a snack and some water before transitioning to our social skill of the day- entering and exiting groups. Starting up conversations with others can be a very scary thing to do. Atlas led our discussion by talking about some positive and negative ways to enter into a group. We then took part in a series of interactive activities where we took on different roles within a conversation. A good question to potentially ask your camper is, what are some ways that you can enter into a conversation with others? Today we discussed how it is important to introduce ourselves, say hello, and ask the other person how they are doing depending on the situation. We also talked about how important it is to listen to others and their interests. Another question you could ask your camper is, what are some ways that you can also share your interests in a conversation without taking over the conversation?

After social skill, it was time for clubs. At Art/Music Club we had a wind-chime scavenger hunt and in STEM Club, we made slime!

Following clubs, it was time for lunch and then choice! For choice this afternoon, we had Monarch directing super secret spy school, Phoenix leading Kangaroo Golf, and Ember leading button making!

We ended our day with Steps in the Right Direction and then some free time in the gym before campers headed home.

That’s all for today, but we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
