DC 4 Conversations
Welcome to Camp Amicus! Today is another day at camp… and yes campers are out in full force! It’s the third day of camp, as friendships are blossoming.. the sun is out in full force.. the hawks are chirping.. as well as more memories are being made as we march on to our third day at camp!
Today’s Camp Wide Game was Temple of Doom! There are three teams, one needs to get through successfully to the goal to get the treasure from the temple of doom and make it back without getting hit by a barrage of dodgeballs on both sides!

Today’s Social Skill is Conversations campers start with I spy where they are partnered up to figure out what their partner has their eye set on. After campers start asking 20 questions, where campers try to figure out which one of the campers are thinking of. Campers begin asking questions, the first few are feel out questions to help get into deeper conversations.
Afterwards Campers are introduced to F.E.V.E.R and P.I.G
Perspective, Information, Goals both are some strategies to go into conversations with. Face the person, Eye contact, Voice-Tone Volume, Expression, Relax. This technique will help campers have a better approach toward conversations and will help create more fulfilling and greater conversations.
After campers start asking 20 questions, where one camper thinks of an object and campers try to figure out what the campers are thinking of! Campers begin asking questions the first few are feel out questions to help get into deeper conversations. F.E.V.E.R and P.I.G helps get a better understanding of how conversations work and how to get more engaged with them.
Campers are then tasked to make their perfect burger and counsellors go around to each camper group and ask them how to make the burger. Each counsellor reacted differently helping campers realize that each conversation you have even if you have it planned out to the fullest extent everyone can interpreted it differently!
Campers transition towards clubs after social skill! Sports club played badminton, Art club made melty beads and Science club made ballon cardboard cars.
Today’s choices are slime campaign where campers make posters on who they want to get slimed on Friday! The other choices were 4 goals soccer and lawn games.
We end off our day with steps in the right direction where campers and counsellors give out paw print stickers to whoever they think did an amazing thing today at camp! We will see you tomorrow for Telus spark make sure you bring your camp shirt!
