Day 4: Bullying
It was another beautiful day at camp today. We were all so excited to see the sun come out and took advantage of it with a fun filled day of activities! After morning announcements, we took part in a camp wide game of fear factor! In order to play this game, campers had to figure out what counsellors were afraid of and bring them back safely to Squiggles who would then award them with a point. Counsellors were afraid of a variety of things, ranging from trees and grass, to braids and people with blonde hair.

After camp wide game, we took a big drink of water, had a snack, and transitioned into our social skill of the day- bullying. Gecko and Phoenix talked with us about bullying, and the experiences from the perspective of the bully and the bullied. We discussed how sometimes the person that is bullying us may be experiencing hardships of their own.
A good question to ask your camper may be, what is a bystander? When we are bystanders, it’s important to stand up for those being bullied even if it feels scary. As bullying can be a difficult and scary situation, we took turns role playing various bullying situations. We discussed what was happening, how it made us feel, and what strategies we could use if we were even in those situations.

Up next was clubs. In STEM Club, we worked on creating structures to protect our water balloons from exploding in a water balloon drop. In Art/Music Club, we painted and worked on some rock art, and in Sports Club, we made our own club!
After clubs, it was time for lunch and then choice! For choice today, we had archery with Monarch, fort building and dodgeball with Bronto, and pot painting and planting with Bullseye!
