ON 2 - DAY 3: Social Rules

Can you believe it’s already the middle of the week? Neither can we! Our third day of camp started off with our polar plunge, and led straight into a fantastic breakfast of oatmeal and fruit.

We then had some time in our 2:6 groups, before heading off to our first camp wide game. Today’s camp wide was “Phobias”, a hilarious game of deduction as campers have to try and figure out the phobias of their counsellors.

After the camp wide game, we had a short transition before diving into our social skills. The focus of social skills today was “Social Rules”, which focuses on teaching campers how to recognize and follow those “hidden” rules we run into every single day. Some examples of social rules are not cutting in front of lines, asking to give someone a hug, and actively listening when someone else is talking.

We played telephone charades, a great game that shows how even the simplest action or message can be completely changed when interpreted from one person to the next.

It was time for lunch, which was PIZZA! (with vegetables) and everyone ate it up quick. It was then time for a rest hour and transitioning into our choice blocks. The choices on offer today were swimming, mafia, and tie dye/slime campaign.

After choice we had more 2:6 and free time, before heading into supper. Which was burgers with tomatoes, pickles and all sorts of condiments. We then headed out to play our camp wide game of hydro pyro. Hydro pyro is a capture the flag style game, where two teams have to try and put out a fire pit on either side of the camp wide field.

To cap off an exciting and HOT day, we gave out our steps in the right direction and headed off to bed ready for our penultimate day of camp!
