ON 2 Tuesday: Expected vs. Unexpected Behavior

Welcome to the second day of Overnight Camp!

This morning we started off with our usual polar bear dip before heading to breakfast where we had french toast, and fruit. After breakfast, we started our first camp wide game of the day, “Temple of Doom.” In this game, we had two teams that take turns as the runners, and the throwers. Runners have one objective: to obtain as many artefacts as possible all whilst they avoided dodge balls being thrown by the throwers. Later on on we added a twist to the game- counsellors as runners vs. campers as throwers!

After camp wide game, we all sat in the shade with snacks and juice boxes getting ready for social skill. Todays social skill was expected behaviour vs. unexpected behaviour. We learned about how in certain situations some behaviours are expected of us and that these can change depending on the situation and was paired with drawing and other fun activities!

For lunch we had “Peaceful Perogies”. During this time, we were encouraged to keep conversations to a whisper to ensure the lunch hall was super “peaceful.”

After lunch, we did a rest hour to reset for our choice blocks. Some of us worked on making bracelets, other’s starting making D&D character sheets, and others chose to play gagaball. We were all very excited for choice as today we got to choose two activities from, horse back riding, swimming, water skiing/ tubing, or bead animals!

At horse back riding, we took turns grooming the horses, and doing pony style rides around the enclosure, here we also met a new friend named Rip! At swimming, we had a pool party with plenty of floaties to go around!

Tubing was super fun for all of us, and was the best and most exiting way to beat the heat!

Bead animals was calm and relaxing outside in the shade. We got to have lots of wonderful conversations with others and keep cool in the shade.

For dinner we had stir fry with rice and spring-rolls. After dinner we got together for our second camp wide game of the day: Hydro Pyro. In Hydro Pyro we split up into two teams, and each one would have to gather wood for a fire on each of their sides, and after that fire started, we would have to use water cups to put out the enemy teams flame to win. After our camp wide game we had steps in the right direction, was used to as a way to say thank you to fellow campers and counsellors.

We can’t wait to do it all over again tomorrow!
