ON 6 Tuesday: What others are Thinking

Welcome to our second day of overnight camp!

This morning we started off with our usual polar bear dip at 7:30 am! At this time campers can chose to either jump into the pool or sleep in, but if a camper goes every day for polar bear dip they earn themselves a golden polar bear award. After cleaning ourselves up we headed inside for breakfast, which was egg sandwiches and oranges. After that we got together for some 2:6 time to tidy the cabins up, and hang out with our counsellors and peers.

For our camp wide game today we played temple of doom! In this game, there are two teams, and one team is a group of adventurers trying to steal the treasure in the temple of doom, and the other team is trying to protect it with dodge balls!

Then we got into two groups to do our social skill of the day: What others are thinking. In this social skill we learn about the intricacies of body language, tone and actions that might help indicate what a person is thinking of. Here we also learn about our own emotions and how others may also be feeling that way in certain situations.

For Lunch today we had chicken strips and French fries!

After lunch we headed back to our cabins for rest hour. Here campers are encouraged to nap, read, or any other quiet activity but it is mainly for self care. This also ensures we all have enough energy for our choices for the day, which is horseback riding, swimming, motorboating, or a low choice.

After our choice blocks we then moved into more 2:6 time then had some free time to play some volleyball, basketball, or make bracelets and whatnot.

For dinner we had spaghetti. Then we moved into our second camp wide game of the day which was Hydro Pyro. In this game there are 2 teams, and in the first half of the game the teams enter the forest to find firewood for their fires. Then they would appoint one member to be their fire tender. This is the only person allowed to tend to said fire and make sure it stays alive during the game. The other members would then try to run to the other teams flame without being tagged to dump a small cup of water on it to try to put it out. The winner of this game will be the team that keeps their flame alive.

After camp wide we then sat down while the sun was setting to do our steps in the right direction.
